Long-Sleeve & Thermal Jerseys

A thermal jersey has a brushed inner face that traps a layer of warm air against the rider. It is warmer than a summer jersey by a very long way and it still breathes, which is what makes it the right thing for hard riding in the cold.

It is not a jacket. The fabric is not windproof, so in a cold headwind the chest chills through, and it is not waterproof at all. We say that plainly rather than letting a thermal jersey be bought as winter outerwear and then blamed.

Longer sleeves change the fit too: the cuff has to reach past a glove with the rider on the bars, which means longer than it looks correct standing up. We cut them for that and it is another reason to size on the bike.
